Whom Shall I Fear?

Good morning! It's another cold morning. Zero degrees F. Hopefully the cold is coming to an end.

Looking ahead to this week's scriptures (Genesis 17:1-7, 15-16; Psalm 22:23-31; Romans 4:13-25; Mark 8:31-38) I see only ONE--God--whom we should fear.

What do you think? What are you afraid of? How can we help one another?

  1. What do I fear? I fear that I am shooting low because a simple guy can't do much in this world. Therefore I struggle to believe that God can use me in a big way. That my lack of "church" background and bible knowledge is going to limit my impact for the Kingdom. I can't point you to the place in the bible that will give you peace - but I can show you how God has given peace in people's lives. I can't point to the place in the bible that will encourage you to be kind - but I can tell you how God has been kind. People want someone who can point to scripture for answers and orate from the pulpit. I have a long way to go.
The saying goes - God does not call the equipped but equips the called.
    Let the equipping begin.

  2. God often uses us in small ways, to touch one life at a time. I'm not sure how important it is to have more "preachers." God uses people just like you to be peace-makers in practical ways and to be kind as "God has been kind." I hope you will have peace, anonymous, in knowing God can use you as you are. Yes, spend some time in the scriptures, read about God's faitnfulness to Abraham and the rest, and then pray that God would come through his Holy Spirit to use you, "cracks" and all. See my "Goofy and Cracked" post from last month!

  3. I'm afraid that I didn't do my best. I sometimes let people down. Was I the best husband, the best father, the best teacher I could have been? I think I do OK, but that old self doubt creeps in. That's what I am afraid of.

  4. So, Tim, we go to the cross. None of us are worthy. All of us are sinners to the core. There is only one righteous. Yes, we follow, but poorly at best. No cause to despair, just the truth. We pray *together* and let God come through his Spirit to give us love, joy, peace... Know you are not alone.
